What is Rosebud?

Rosebud is an interactive AI journal designed to work like a mentor in your pocket. Instead of writing into a void, users get real-time reflective responses to their entries: the AI asks thoughtful follow-up questions, surfaces recurring emotional patterns, celebrates progress, and connects today's entry to what you wrote weeks ago through long-term memory. Weekly reports distill themes, and guided journeys target anxiety, relationships, productivity, and habit change.

Founders and traction

Rosebud was founded in 2023 by Chrys Bader-Wechseler, a Y Combinator alum who co-founded the app Secret, and Sean Dadashi, a cognitive-science-trained mental health technologist. The pair built Rosebud from their own experience with therapy and coaching. The app has facilitated over 500 million words journaled and 30 million mindful minutes; the company reports 75% of surveyed users saw meaningful mental-health improvement within 30 days. Entries are end-to-end encrypted.

Funding and pricing

In June 2025, Rosebud announced a $6M seed round led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from 776, Initialized Capital, Fuel Capital, Avenir, and Tim Ferriss. Rosebud offers a free tier, with the premium Bloom plan from about $8.99/month billed annually.
