What is Vetted?
Vetted is an AI-powered shopping research assistant that does hours of product homework in seconds. For any purchase — headphones, strollers, air purifiers — Vetted's agent aggregates and analyzes discussions on Reddit, YouTube reviews, expert articles, and thousands of user reviews to surface the most-recommended products for your specific needs, then compares retailers to find the lowest price. It's available as a website, mobile apps, and a browser extension that overlays insights while you shop.
From Lustre to Yahoo
The company launched as Lustre, a browser extension overlaying recommendations on Amazon pages, founded by engineers including Tim Etler, Tom Raleigh, and former NASA Ames engineer Stuart Kearney. It rebranded to Vetted in 2022 alongside a $14M Series A led by Insight Partners, with Index Ventures, Bling Capital, and Golden Ventures participating — about $15M raised in total. Vetted reported hundreds of thousands of shoppers using the product, with users buying its recommendations 70% of the time.
Acquisition
In November 2025, Yahoo agreed to acquire Vetted, folding its team and AI shopping technology into Yahoo to power more personalized product discovery and comparisons across its properties.
