What is WellSaid?
WellSaid, founded in Seattle in 2018 by Michael Petrochuk and Matt Hocking (a spinout of the Allen Institute for AI), is an AI voice platform that turns scripts into studio-quality voiceover. Its browser-based studio offers more than 120 realistic voices, all modeled from licensed, consenting voice actors, with fine controls for pronunciation, pacing, loudness, and tone. Teams can share pronunciation libraries, collaborate on projects, and render audio for training courses, product videos, ads, and IVR systems.
Enterprise focus
WellSaid differentiates on data ethics and enterprise readiness: a closed model that is not trained on customer data, SOC 2 and GDPR compliance, and an API for programmatic speech synthesis at scale. Customers have included Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Adobe, and LinkedIn, and the product integrates with Adobe Creative Suite workflows.
Funding
The company raised a $10M Series A led by FUSE in July 2021, bringing total funding to roughly $12M, and remains one of the most established independent players in AI voiceover for learning and marketing content.
