Vidyard is a long-established video platform for business, focused on helping sales and marketing teams use video to communicate, engage prospects, and drive revenue. Headquartered in Canada, the company provides video messaging, hosting, and analytics, and in 2024 expanded into generative AI with the launch of AI Avatars, hyper-realistic, personalized digital versions of users that can deliver video messages generated from a script. This lets a sales rep or marketer produce a polished, personalized video without filming themselves each time.

The AI Avatars feature targets a specific pain point in go-to-market motions: personalized video dramatically improves engagement in outreach, but recording individual videos at scale is impractical. By letting users create video clips from scripts using avatars that look and sound like them, Vidyard enables the scale of automated outreach with the personal feel of human video. This sits at the intersection of AI video, digital humans, and sales enablement, extending Vidyard's existing platform into generative content.

Vidyard announced $15 million in funding in April 2024, led by Export Development Canada with participation from BMO Capital Partners and existing investors Battery Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, and iNovia Capital. Notably its first equity round in eight years, the financing brought total funding to roughly $90.7 million and directly supported the rollout of AI Avatars and further AI investment in video production.

Vidyard's thesis is that AI can make video a default, scalable channel for sales and marketing rather than a high-effort, occasional one. By combining its established video hosting, messaging, and analytics with generative avatars, Vidyard aims to help revenue teams personalize at scale, betting that AI-generated personalized video becomes a standard part of modern go-to-market playbooks for sellers, marketers, and customer-facing teams.
