Valerie Health builds an 'AI front office' for independent doctors' offices and provider groups. Its premise is that much of the administrative work sitting between a patient and a provider, such as referrals, faxes, intake, and scheduling, is rote and repetitive, and can be automated by AI agents working alongside human staff.
The company embeds AI agents with a humans-in-the-loop model directly inside a clinic's existing workflows and systems, rather than requiring practices to rip and replace their software. By automating front-office tasks, Valerie aims to reduce administrative burden, cut overhead, and let independent practices operate more efficiently while preserving care quality.
In December 2025, Valerie Health raised a $30M Series A led by Redpoint Ventures, with participation from General Catalyst, Primary Ventures, BoxGroup, Karman Ventures, .406 Ventures, and Waybury Capital, plus angels from One Medical, Oscar, and DoorDash. The round brought total funding to about $39M.
Founded in 2023 by Pete Shalek (who previously co-founded mental health startup Joyable) and Nitin Joshi (a co-founder of Uber Health and former Stripe engineering leader), Valerie Health targets the operational backbone of independent healthcare practices with applied AI.
