SmarterDx is a New York-based clinical AI company founded in 2020 by Michael Gao, MD and Joshua Geleris, MD. Its platform reviews clinical documentation, coding and denials across the hospital revenue cycle, using AI to identify missed diagnoses and revenue opportunities, strengthen payer appeals and improve quality metrics. The company says it serves more than 85 health systems. In 2025 SmarterDx became part of Smarter Technologies, a broader company applying AI to healthcare revenue cycle efficiency.
Funding
SmarterDx announced a $50 million Series B round led by Transformation Capital in March 2025, with participation from investors including Bessemer Venture Partners and Flare Capital Partners, to expand its clinical AI platform for hospitals and health systems.
