From Finnish startup to category king
Oura was founded in 2013 in Oulu, Finland, by Petteri Lahtela, Kari Kivelä, and Markku Koskela, and effectively created the smart ring category. The Oura Ring packs research-grade sensors into a titanium band, tracking more than 50 health metrics across sleep, readiness, activity, stress, heart health, and women's health. Now led by CEO Tom Hale, the company has sold millions of rings, with the fourth-generation Oura Ring 4 as its flagship.
AI at the core
Oura's software turns raw biometrics into daily Sleep and Readiness scores, detects early signs of illness and strain, and offers Oura Advisor — an AI health coach that chats about your data, spots trends, and suggests behavior changes. A partnership and investment from glucose-monitor maker Dexcom is bringing metabolic data into the platform. Membership costs $5.99/month on top of ring hardware.
Funding and scale
Oura raised a $200M Series D in December 2024 at a $5.2B valuation led by Fidelity with Dexcom participating, then a $900M+ Series E in October 2025 that roughly doubled its valuation to about $11B, with total capital raised approaching $1.5B and projected 2025 revenue above $1 billion.
