NPCx is an AI company dedicated to transforming how non-player characters are created and animated across gaming and entertainment, including film, XR, and the metaverse. The company's mission is to make NPCs more lifelike, both in how they move and how they behave, by applying artificial intelligence to motion capture, animation, and behavioral modeling. Its toolset spans the pipeline from raw motion data to believable, responsive characters.
NPCx's flagship product, TrackerX, launched in March 2023 as a state-of-the-art motion-capture processing tool. Building on that foundation, the company is developing BehaviorX, which captures and employs real-time data from players to create lifelike behavioral clones in NPCs, so characters can move and act in ways learned from actual human play. NPCx has also outlined additional products, RetargetX and AIMX, which use neural networks to retarget motion-capture animation and to predict the next animation frame, yielding smoother, more realistic character movement.
By focusing on both motion and behavior, NPCx targets two of the hardest parts of believable characters: how they physically move and how they decide what to do. This positions the company as an infrastructure provider for studios and creators who want higher-quality animation and more convincing NPC behavior without the full manual cost of traditional motion-capture and animation pipelines.
NPCx was founded in 2020 in Florida by Cameron Madani, Michael Puscar, and Alberto Menache. Before its institutional round, the company raised over $540,000 on the crowdfunding platform Republic. It then secured a $3 million seed round led by Kakao Investment, funding that supports development of BehaviorX and its broader suite of neural animation and behavior tools.
