Founded by former Google DeepMind researchers, Artificial Agency is developing a runtime behavior engine that lets game studios drop dynamic, decision-making AI into their titles. Instead of authoring branching decision trees and pre-written scripts, designers assign NPCs motivations, rules and goals, and the engine drives how characters respond to evolving player actions and game state. The Edmonton, Canada company is working with several AAA studios to integrate the engine into shipping games, positioning its technology as a middleware layer for emergent, believable game characters and game-master-style systems. The behavior engine is designed to slot into existing production pipelines rather than forcing teams to rebuild their games around AI.
