Basecamp Research is a London-based AI-for-biology company building foundation models grounded in the largest known proprietary dataset of natural biological diversity. Through ethical biodiversity partnerships in dozens of countries, it has assembled BaseData, a genomic database containing many times more advanced biological systems than the public resources most pharma researchers rely on. Its EDEN family of foundation models trains on billions of new-to-science genes to bypass the industry's evolutionary data wall, unlocking new scaling laws for AI in biology. Basecamp applies these models to protein and enzyme design across pharma, industrial biotech, and genetic medicine. In October 2024 it announced a collaboration with David Liu's lab at the Broad Institute to advance programmable genetic medicines and closed a $60M Series B led by Singular, backed by S32, redalpine, and prominent life-science figures.
