Overview
Tractable is a London-based AI company that applies computer vision and machine learning to visual damage assessment. Founded in 2014 by Alex Dalyac, Razvan Ranca, and Adrien Cohen, Tractable lets policyholders and insurers photograph damaged cars or properties and receive AI-generated appraisals in minutes, transforming a traditionally slow, manual claims process.
Technology and Applications
Tractable's models are trained on vast datasets of damage imagery to estimate repair costs and severity for auto and property claims. The technology speeds up first-notice-of-loss handling, repair estimation, and total-loss decisions, and has been extended to disaster recovery use cases where rapid, accurate assessment matters most. The company works with more than 20 of the world's top 100 insurers.
Funding and Position
Tractable reached unicorn status, raising a $60M round at a $1B valuation in 2021 and a $65M Series E led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 in 2023, bringing total funding to roughly $185M from investors including Insight Partners and Georgian. It is one of the most established AI-for-insurance companies and a notable European AI success story.
