TextQL, co-founded by CEO Ethan Ding, set out to replicate the experience of working with a skilled human data analyst. Its product, Ana, plugs into the modern data stack and a company's documentation, indexing metadata from sources like Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office while staying compatible with BI tools such as Tableau and Looker. When a user asks a question in natural language, Ana can write and run queries, point to existing dashboards when an answer already exists, and assemble analyses without forcing users to learn SQL. The company raised $4.1M across combined pre-seed and seed rounds in early 2024, co-led by Neo and DCM, with participation from Unshackled Ventures, Worklife Ventures, PageOne Ventures, FirstHand Ventures, and Indicator Fund, plus angels including dbt CEO Tristan Handy. TextQL targets enterprises that want to democratize self-serve analytics on top of warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, and Redshift.
