Riffusion is an AI music generation company started as a hobby project in 2022 by friends and musicians Seth Forsgren and Hayk Martiros. Its original approach used 'latent diffusion' on spectrograms (visual representations of audio) to generate music from verbal prompts, and the initial viral demo was tried by millions of people. The company later launched a consumer app that lets anyone describe a musical style and lyrics and receive shareable AI-generated 'riffs,' complete with cover art, in seconds.
