Overlap is a San Francisco startup founded in 2024 by Jonathan Baer (CEO) and Casey Traina (CTO) and part of Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch. It builds multimodal AI agents for media companies and video creators; its flagship video-marketing agent can autonomously understand, search and edit videos, instantly transforming long recordings into short clips for social media. The company says customers, including podcasters, marketing teams and media companies, have seen large increases in engagement while saving significant editing time. ## Funding Overlap announced a $1.9 million seed round in September 2024, backed by Y Combinator, Collab Fund, Transpose, Orange Collective, Pioneer Fund and The 23 Fund, along with angels and operators from companies such as Amazon, Figma, Anthropic, Loom, Netflix, Meta and OpenAI.
