ShengShu Technology, founded in March 2023 and headquartered in Beijing, is the company behind Vidu, one of China's leading AI video-generation models and a rival to OpenAI's Sora. The firm has deep ties to Tsinghua University: co-founder and president Tang Jiayu is a Tsinghua computer-science graduate, chief scientist Zhu Jun is a Tsinghua professor, and CTO Bao Fan is his former student; former ByteDance Volcano Engine executive Luo Yihang serves as CEO. Vidu offers text-to-video, image-to-video and reference-to-video generation with fast inference, plus AI image and sound-effect generation, available globally via web. In April 2026 ShengShu raised RMB 2 billion (~$290M) in a Series B led by Alibaba Cloud, with TAL Education and Baidu Ventures participating, building toward AGI and world-model research.
