MOA Foodtech is a Spanish biotechnology company producing next-generation functional ingredients through AI-driven fermentation. Its platform uses non-GMO biomass fermentation to upcycle food-industry byproducts and side streams into high-quality, sustainable proteins and ingredients. AI and machine learning optimize strain selection, fermentation conditions, and ingredient development, accelerating R&D and improving yields and consistency. By converting low-value agri-food waste into nutritious inputs, MOA addresses both food security and sustainability. The company was selected as one of 71 startups funded by the European Innovation Council, securing a €14.8 million ($15.4M) commitment in 2025 comprising an EIC Accelerator grant and EIC Fund equity, on top of an earlier Series A. It is led by co-founders Susana Sánchez, José María Elorza, and Bosco Emparanza.
