AI for everyone, starting on WhatsApp

Luzia was founded in Madrid in 2023 by Álvaro Martínez Higes, Javier Andrés, and Carlos Pérez with a simple insight: hundreds of millions of people in Spain and Latin America live inside WhatsApp, so that's where their AI assistant should live. Luzia answers questions, translates, transcribes voice notes, helps with homework and writing, generates images, and chats naturally in Spanish and Portuguese — no new app required, though dedicated iOS, Android, and web apps now exist.

Massive consumer traction

Luzia became one of Europe's fastest-growing consumer AI products, reporting more than 85 million users worldwide and a top-app ranking in over five countries. The product is free, with a Luzia+ premium tier adding longer chats, an ad-free experience, advanced reasoning, and higher-quality image generation.

Investors

Luzia raised a $10M Series A led by Khosla Ventures in October 2023 — with participation from A* Capital, Abstract Ventures, FJ Labs, and basketball legend Pau Gasol — followed by a $13.5M round led by Prosus Ventures to deepen its reach across Latin America and Brazil.
