Curacel is a Nigerian insurance infrastructure company founded in 2019 by Henry Mascot and John Dada that helps insurers and digital platforms in emerging markets process claims and distribute products via APIs. Its AI-powered platform lets claims be submitted and processed in real time, helping insurers cut claims cycles by more than 70% and process up to 10x more claims, with products spanning Health AI, Auto AI, claims fraud detection, document extraction, support automation, and embedded insurance distribution. Curacel is used by 100+ banks, fintechs, logistics and e-commerce platforms across markets including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Morocco and Egypt, and counts insurers like AXA, Allianz and Old Mutual among its partners. In February 2023 Curacel raised a $3 million seed round to scale and expand into North Africa, with investors including Tencent, Blue Point Capital Partners, Y Combinator, Olive Tree Capital, Elefund and angels such as Fitbit's James Park and Flutterwave's Olugbenga Agboola.
