About this event

ICML, the International Conference on Machine Learning, sits alongside NeurIPS and ICLR as one of the three flagship publication venues for machine learning research. Operated by the International Machine Learning Society, ICML has been running since 1980 and is the premier midyear gathering for the global ML community. The 43rd annual edition takes place July 6-11, 2026 at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul, South Korea, marking the conference return to Asia.

The program packs six days of dual-track action: a main technical program of oral and poster presentations, an exhibitor hall featuring frontier labs and chip vendors, dozens of tutorials, and two days of post-conference workshops covering emerging topics from mechanistic interpretability to AI for science. Submissions closed January 29 with abstracts due January 24, and the conference typically accepts around 27 percent of nearly 10,000 submissions, making accepted ICML papers a strong signal of research quality.

ICML draws roughly 10,000 attendees split between academia and industry research labs. Expect heavy presence from Google DeepMind, Meta FAIR, OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft Research, and a growing contingent from Asian tech giants including Samsung, Naver, and Kakao. Seoul itself is a draw, with COEX sitting in the Gangnam district surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and easy transit. For researchers shipping new methods, ICML remains the venue that defines what counts as state of the art each summer.
