About this event

AAAI, the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, hosts the broadest of the major AI conferences. Founded in 1980 and running with annual conferences since the early 80s, AAAI covers the full sweep of artificial intelligence: machine learning, knowledge representation, planning, multi-agent systems, robotics, natural language, computer vision, and the philosophical and ethical questions that surround the field. The 40th edition takes place January 20-27, 2026 at the Singapore EXPO, with the main technical track running January 22-25.

The technical program is enormous, typically accepting around 2,500 papers from a submission pool that has ballooned past 12,000 in recent years. Beyond the main track, AAAI hosts dedicated tracks for AI alignment, AI for social impact, deployable AI, student abstracts, and a special senior member presentation track. Tutorials and three dozen workshops bracket the conference, covering everything from neurosymbolic reasoning to safe reinforcement learning to AI in healthcare.

The Singapore location reflects AAAI growing internationalization and the rise of Asian AI research powerhouses. Expect strong representation from Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Singaporean institutions alongside the traditional North American and European core. The attendee mix skews academic but industry research labs maintain heavy presence, and the conference doubles as a major recruiting event. The Singapore EXPO is well connected by metro and adjacent to Changi Airport, making it one of the more accessible AAAI venues in recent memory.
