Zania is an agentic AI platform purpose-built for enterprise governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). It deploys AI agents that help security, risk, and compliance teams execute their most critical and repetitive workflows with greater speed, consistency, and accuracy, automating the kind of evidence-gathering, questionnaire response, and control-mapping work that traditionally consumes large amounts of skilled human time.
The company was founded and is led by CEO Shruti Gupta, who brings deep domain credibility to the problem. Before Zania, Gupta led AI initiatives at Microsoft and held foundational security-engineering and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) roles at well-known technology companies including Instacart, Airbnb, and Brex. That operator-as-buyer background informs Zania's focus on the day-to-day pain of GRC teams rather than generic automation.
Zania raised an $18 million Series A led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), with participation from Anthropic and Menlo Ventures (via its Anthology Fund), Palm Drive Capital, and a roster of prominent security angels including CrowdStrike founder and CEO George Kurtz, former Airbnb head of engineering Mike Curtis, and Persistent Systems founder Anand Deshpande. The NEA deal team included Mustafa Neemuchwala, Hilarie Koplow-McAdams, and Scott Sandell.
The platform is designed for security, risk, and compliance functions at mid-market and enterprise organizations that must continuously manage frameworks, audits, and risk assessments. By embedding agents into these workflows, Zania aims to compress the time it takes to respond to security questionnaires, prepare for audits, and keep controls aligned with evolving standards.
Zania participates in a fast-growing wave of agentic GRC and security startups, and its differentiation rests on a founder with hands-on CISO experience, strong investor backing from NEA and Anthropic, and a clear focus on reinventing enterprise risk and compliance with agents rather than retrofitting agents onto a legacy GRC tool.
