Voltage Park is a cloud provider that owns its hardware and software and offers on-demand and reserved NVIDIA GPU compute for AI and machine learning workloads, running across six Tier 3+ US data centers. It was established as a for-profit subsidiary of the nonprofit Navigation Fund, which was founded by crypto entrepreneur Jed McCaleb (co-founder of Stellar, Ripple and Mt. Gox); a share of Voltage Park's profits supports the Navigation Fund's philanthropic mission. Its clusters use 80GB H100 SXM5 GPUs interconnected with 3.2T InfiniBand, and early capacity was used by startups including Imbue and Character.AI.
Funding
Voltage Park was capitalized through the Navigation Fund, which purchased roughly 24,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs worth an estimated $500 million and transferred ownership to Voltage Park as its initial capital contribution, announced in October 2023. It is not backed by a traditional venture round.
