What Tigris Data Does
Tigris is a globally distributed, S3-compatible object storage service purpose-built for AI workloads. Through a single endpoint, it automatically places and replicates data close to compute across regions, helping AI training and inference pipelines avoid latency and the egress fees that come with traditional cloud storage. Tigris fulfills more than 90% of the S3 API, advertises zero egress fees with usage-based pricing, and offers official MCP-server integration, making it a drop-in alternative to AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, and Cloudflare R2 for distributed AI infrastructure.
Funding & Background
Tigris Data was founded by Ovais Tariq (CEO), Himank Chaudhary (CTO), and Yevgeniy Firsov (Chief Architect), the team that built Uber's storage platform, and is based in Sunnyvale, California. In October 2025 the company raised a $25M Series A led by Spark Capital with continued support from Andreessen Horowitz, as first reported by TechCrunch, to build the storage layer for the AI era and expand its network of localized data-storage points designed for distributed compute.
