Overview

Teachable is an online course and digital product platform founded in 2014 by Ankur Nagpal in New York City. It lets creators, educators, and businesses build branded course websites, sell courses, coaching, and digital downloads, and handle payments, all without coding. At the time of its 2020 acquisition by Brazil-based Hotmart, Teachable served tens of thousands of creators and millions of students and had processed more than $1 billion in creator earnings.

Product and Use

The platform provides course authoring with video and quizzes, sales pages, checkout and payment processing, coupons, affiliate marketing, student management, and analytics. In 2025 Teachable revamped its plans, retiring its free-forever tier in favor of 7-day free trials across paid plans that start at $39/month (or $29/month billed annually) and scale up to higher tiers with reduced transaction fees and advanced features. Teachable targets independent creators, coaches, and small-to-midsize businesses that want an all-in-one way to monetize knowledge and digital content.
