What is Runna?

Runna is a running training app that gives every runner a personalized, adaptive coaching plan. Founded in London in 2021 by Dom Maskell and Ben Parker and launched in March 2022, Runna generates structured workouts tailored to your goal race, fitness level, and weekly schedule — powered by the 'Runna Engine' and shaped by input from Olympic athletes and certified coaches. Plans cover everything from a first 5K to ultramarathons, and include strength, mobility, and Pilates sessions built for runners.

Product and traction

Runna syncs workouts directly to Garmin, Apple Watch, COROS, Suunto, and Fitbit devices, adjusts plans as your fitness changes, and offers 24/7 in-app support. It became one of the highest-rated fitness apps in the world, holding a 4.9-star rating from tens of thousands of reviews, and helped millions of runners train for races. Subscriptions cost $19.99/month or $119.99/year with a free first week.

Funding and acquisition

Runna raised around £10M from investors, including a £5M round in November 2023. In April 2025 Strava announced a definitive agreement to acquire Runna, keeping the app independent while investing in the team — one of the most notable consumer fitness deals of the year.
