Mem0 is a San Francisco-based startup building the memory layer for AI. Large language models are inherently stateless, forgetting prior conversations; Mem0 solves this by storing, condensing, and retrieving user and agent memories so that AI applications can deliver consistent personalization and reduce redundant tokens.
The platform exposes a simple Add / Learn / Retrieve workflow through Python and Node.js SDKs and a REST API. A memory compression engine condenses chat history into compact memories to cut token usage and latency, and the company offers domain templates for healthcare, education, e-commerce, customer support and sales. Enterprise deployments include SOC 2 and HIPAA support plus private cloud and Kubernetes options.
Mem0 was founded by Taranjeet Singh (CEO, previously Paytm and Khatabook) and Deshraj Yadav (CTO, previously Tesla Autopilot). The open-source library has reached more than 40,000 GitHub stars and tens of millions of downloads, with API call volume growing sharply through 2025.
In October 2025 Mem0 announced $24M across a seed round led by Kindred Ventures and a Series A led by Basis Set Ventures, with participation from Peak XV Partners, the GitHub Fund and Y Combinator, plus angels including Datadog's Olivier Pomel and Supabase's Paul Copplestone.
Mem0 serves as a memory provider for major agent frameworks, including being cited as the exclusive memory provider for AWS's Agent SDK, positioning it as core infrastructure for the agent stack.
