Ludus AI is building a generative AI assistant purpose-built for Unreal Engine, one of the most powerful but increasingly complex game-development environments. As Unreal grows in capability, the learning curve and specialist skills required have grown with it, while qualified developers remain scarce. Ludus AI addresses this by embedding AI tools directly into the Unreal workflow that automate routine and technical tasks, letting developers move faster and lowering the barrier for smaller teams.

The company was founded by Piotr Penar, former CEO of DreamStorm Studios, who brings hands-on game-development experience to the product. Ludus AI's toolkit spans code editing, automated creation of 3D models, generation of game logic, and rapid prototyping, all integrated within Unreal Engine rather than bolted on as a separate application. According to the company, its tools reduce development time by around 30% and it has attracted roughly 26,000 users for its first version.

Ludus AI sits in the in-engine AI-assistant category alongside copilots for other engines, but its deep Unreal focus differentiates it. By targeting one engine deeply, Ludus AI can offer tighter integration with Unreal's systems and conventions. Its investor Hard2Beat has framed the opportunity as solving a global challenge: the growing complexity of Unreal Engine combined with a shortage of specialists in the market.

The Warsaw-based startup secured a seed round of PLN 4.5 million at the end of 2025 from funds supported by Poland's PFR Ventures program, including Hard2Beat and 24Ventures, alongside Hartmann Capital and Artificial Agency. The capital supports continued development of its Unreal toolkit and user growth. As AI copilots become standard in software development, Ludus AI is betting that engine-native AI assistance becomes essential for competitive game studios.
