Juicebox was founded by David Paffenholz and Ishan Gupta, who went through Y Combinator's Summer 2022 batch and launched their breakout product, PeopleGPT, in late 2023. The company is headquartered in San Francisco and set out to replace rigid boolean keyword search with a natural-language way of finding talent.

PeopleGPT lets a recruiter describe the person they want to hire in plain English and returns matching candidates from a corpus of more than a billion public profiles. On top of search, Juicebox has built AI recruiting agents that automate downstream steps such as personalized outreach, candidate screening, and pipeline management, aiming to compress the time recruiters spend on manual sourcing work.

The product found rapid adoption across both startups and larger companies, with customers including Cognition, Ramp, and Perplexity. Juicebox reported serving more than 2,500 customers and crossing $10 million in annual recurring revenue with 20%-plus monthly growth around the time of its funding.

In September 2025 Juicebox raised a $30 million Series A led by Sequoia Capital, part of $36 million in total disclosed funding. Other investors include Coatue, NFDG, Y Combinator, Lux Capital, and BOND. The company is using the capital to scale its AI recruiting agents for both enterprise and startup customers.
