What is Duckbill?

Duckbill is a personal-assistant service that combines large language models with skilled human 'copilots' to actually finish the life admin most people put off. Members hand over tasks — disputing a medical bill, booking appointments, researching summer camps, canceling subscriptions, negotiating with customer service — via app, text, email, or a Claude integration, and Duckbill executes them end to end, including making phone calls and sitting on hold.

Why the hybrid model matters

Founded in 2022 by Meghan Joyce, former Uber regional general manager and COO of Oscar Health, Duckbill is built on the thesis that pure AI assistants fail at messy real-world execution. Its AI drafts, researches, and automates while humans supply judgment, empathy, and the ability to deal with businesses that only answer the phone. The company frames it as 'you've never been so productive doing nothing.'

Funding

Duckbill raised $33M across seed and Series A rounds announced in September 2023, led by Forerunner Ventures with participation from Greycroft, Inspired Capital, General Catalyst, G9 Ventures, Red Antler, Future Back Ventures, and Offline Ventures. It has become one of the most-watched consumer AI services in the personal productivity space.
