Digicust is an Austrian AI startup based in Vienna that automates the customs clearance process for companies trading across Europe. Founded in 2020 by Borisav Parmakovic, the company develops artificial intelligence systems that handle the full customs workflow, a domain that remains heavily manual, document-driven, and error-prone despite its critical role in moving goods across borders.

Customs processing involves reading and structuring a wide range of documents, assigning correct tariff classifications, running export control and sanctions checks, and generating compliant declarations. Each of these steps traditionally requires skilled customs specialists working through paperwork by hand, which slows shipments, raises costs, and creates compliance risk when mistakes slip through. Digicust's platform applies AI to automate document processing and structuring, tariff classification, export control checks, and the creation of compliant customs records.

The result is faster processing, lower manual effort, and improved accuracy in everyday customs operations. By acting as an AI customs agent, Digicust lets logistics teams and corporate trade departments handle higher volumes without proportionally expanding headcount, while reducing the risk of costly classification or compliance errors. The platform is designed for the realities of European cross-border trade, where regulatory requirements vary across markets.

Digicust raised a €2.3 million pre-Series A round to scale its platform, with backing from Czech investor Jet Investment, which led the round through its venture arm, and Look AI Ventures, alongside private investors and support from Austria Wirtschaftsservice programs. The company reports more than 60 corporate customers across six European markets and has processed over 500,000 customs declarations through its platform. As trade compliance grows more complex and customs talent remains scarce, Digicust positions AI-driven automation as the path to faster, more accurate, and more scalable customs operations.
