DeepMotion was founded in 2014 in San Mateo, California by Kevin He, a veteran of Blizzard, Roblox, Disney and Ubisoft. Its mission is to democratize digital human motion: instead of suits and studio rigs, DeepMotion extracts full-body motion capture from ordinary video using AI and physics simulation.

Products

Animate 3D converts video footage into 3D character animations with markerless body, hand and face tracking, exportable as FBX/BVH for Unity, Unreal, Blender and other pipelines. SayMotion, launched in 2024, generates 3D animation directly from text prompts using generative motion models. Both products expose APIs, and a free tier lets creators test animations before subscribing. The physics-based approach helps produce grounded, believable motion for actions like dancing, sports and martial arts.

Position

Backed by roughly $2.2M from Samsung Venture Investment, Scrum Ventures and Bandai Namco's 021 Fund, DeepMotion has stayed compact while partnering with Samsung, Intel, NVIDIA, Epic Games and Qualcomm. It competes with Move AI and Cascadeur in the fast-growing markerless mocap space, with a lower-cost, browser-first angle popular among indie game developers and animators.
