Cogent Security is a San Francisco startup applying agentic AI to one of security's most painful workflows: vulnerability management. Its AI agents handle the full remediation lifecycle, investigating findings in the context of the real environment, determining asset and code ownership, scoring real-world exploitability, generating remediation steps, and tracking fixes through verified completion. Founded in 2024 by ex-Abnormal Security leaders Vineet Edupuganti and Geng Sng plus ex-Coinbase infrastructure lead Thanos Baskous, Cogent launched in July 2025 and quickly began working with dozens of Fortune 1000 companies, reporting that customers cut critical-risk exposure windows by an average of 97%. In February 2026 it raised a $42M Series A led by Bain Capital Ventures with Greylock Partners and Definition, bringing total funding to $53M; founders from OpenAI, Abnormal Security, and Datadog also invested.
