Bonsai Robotics builds AI-first autonomous machines for agriculture and acquired farm-ng, maker of the popular Amiga modular electric robot. The Amiga is a lightweight (~320 lb) autonomous platform that can be configured for soil preparation, planting, harvest, and crop care across crops from lettuce to grapes, with an onboard AI computer enabling perception and autonomy. Priced around $13,000, it is designed to make automation accessible to small and mid-sized growers who have been underserved by expensive farm robotics. The company has deployed well over 100 Amigas and works with large operations like Western Growers, whose data is open-sourced to the robotics community. farm-ng (founded 2020 by former Google roboticist Ethan Rublee) closed a $10 million Series A led by Acre Venture Partners before joining Bonsai Robotics.
