Beeble is a South Korea-based visual effects startup founded in 2022 by former members of the AI research and machine learning team at game publisher Krafton. Its core technology, SwitchLight, uses AI to relight subjects and full scenes in images and video, solving one of the hardest problems in visual production: matching the lighting of a subject to a new background or environment. Professional relighting and compositing traditionally require expensive equipment, green screens, and skilled VFX artists, putting it out of reach for most individual creators.

SwitchLight changes that by letting users relight footage and photos with studio-grade realism through software alone. Newer versions of the technology can relight full scenes in real time without requiring 3D reconstruction or isolated subjects, and process video frames together for improved temporal stability rather than treating each frame in isolation. Beeble has also built consumer-facing products, including a SwitchLight mobile photo editor app that has been downloaded by millions of users, alongside its more professional virtual studio offering for filmmakers.

The company positions its platform as a virtual production tool that empowers individual artists, indie filmmakers, and content creators to achieve effects that previously demanded full production teams. In July 2024, Beeble raised a $4.75 million seed round led by Basis Set Ventures, with participation from Fika Ventures, at a reported $25 million valuation. The company began generating revenue ahead of the round.

Beeble's differentiation lies in the technical strength of its relighting models and its focus on democratizing high-end VFX. By bridging consumer apps and professional virtual production, it serves both casual photo editors and serious filmmakers, carving out a distinctive position in the AI photo and video editing landscape where realistic lighting control is a persistent and valuable challenge.
