Former Snapchat machine learning engineer Kate Deyneka has launched Reelful, an iOS app that automatically transforms photos and video clips from users' camera rolls into polished TikTok and Instagram Reels-style content.

The app targets creators who want to produce social media content but find traditional video editing tools too complex or time-consuming. Deyneka, who helped develop video and image models at Snapchat before leaving to build the startup, is currently participating in Andreessen Horowitz's Speedrun program.

How Reelful works

Users begin by entering a prompt describing their desired story — whether a travel recap, product demo, or event highlight. They create a voice clone by recording a 30-second sample, then select photos and videos from their camera roll.

Reelful's AI then plans the video, writes the script, adds the AI voiceover, and assembles the final edit complete with captions, music, and sound effects. The app can animate still images into video clips — turning a photo of someone cutting a mango into a short video showing the slicing motion.

After generating the initial video, users can continue editing through a chat interface to swap soundtracks, revise scripts, or adjust other elements. All AI-generated content includes watermarks for transparency.

"I want to post more on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, but video editing takes a lot of time," Deyneka told TechCrunch. "I see Reelful as a tool that can help people build their online presence and their personal brand."

The startup joins companies like Opus Clip and Captions in using AI to automate content creation. Deyneka's target audience includes founders and business owners who need consistent content but lack editing resources.

Pricing and availability

Reelful offers both one-time purchases and subscriptions. Video credits cost $15 for five videos, $43 for 15 videos, or $90 for 33 videos. Monthly subscriptions range from $25 for 10 videos to $100 for 60 videos.

The app is currently iOS-only, with Android and web versions planned for future release.
