Wysa is an AI-driven mental health platform built around an anonymous, conversational chatbot that delivers evidence-based self-help techniques, primarily cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to help users manage stress, anxiety, depression, and related concerns. Represented by a friendly penguin avatar, the app guides users through structured exercises, mood tracking, and supportive conversation, and can escalate to human well-being coaches and clinical resources where offered.

The service combines a 24/7 AI conversational agent with a library of self-care tools and, in many deployments, access to human coaches and clinical pathways. Wysa is offered direct to individuals through its consumer app and, significantly, to organizations: employers, health plans, and health systems deploy Wysa as a first-line, scalable mental-health support layer. It has been used by the UK's NHS among other health providers.

Wysa has emphasized clinical rigor. An independent peer-reviewed trial published in JMIR found it effective for managing chronic pain and associated depression and anxiety, and in May 2022 Wysa received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation for an AI-led conversational agent targeting depression and anxiety in adults with chronic musculoskeletal pain. The company reports more than 6.5 million users globally.

Wysa raised a $20 million Series B in 2022 led by HealthQuad with participation from British International Investment, following an earlier Series A. In 2025 Wysa announced a merger with April Health to combine AI-led support with in-person mental healthcare.
