Despite the near-identical name, WSUP AI is a separate, independently operated product with no connection to wsup.ai, the free character-chat service that shut down on June 19, 2026. The operators state plainly that WSUP AI "is not affiliated with the former wsup.ai service or its owners," and that no accounts, purchases, characters, or conversation histories transferred from the closed platform. It launched roughly six weeks after that closure, positioning itself as a replacement destination for users who lost access.
What it does
Each character carries its own personality, backstory, and opening scene, with conversation memory intended to keep longer scenes coherent. Beyond text, the product layers in character-specific voice replies that can be played on demand, AI-generated image replies when a scene calls for a visual, response regeneration to replace a weak line without restarting the conversation, and short silent motion portraits for selected characters. An AI-assisted creation flow helps users build their own characters — description, backstory, opening message, and portrait — and publish them publicly or keep them private. Characters are browsable by themes including Anime, Companion, K-Wave, Modern, Roleplay, and Romance, with fan or unofficial characters labeled as such.
Stage and transparency
WSUP AI is early. Its own privacy policy describes the service as a "preview" and refers to full accounts as a future launch, and its terms reference beta features subject to change. The app runs on Firebase, using anonymous authentication to preserve guest sessions before optional sign-in. No operating company, legal entity, or founding team is named on the site or in its launch materials, and no funding has been disclosed. There is no published pricing page; the first chat is free, and signing in is described as unlocking retained chat history, saved characters, and higher image and audio allowances.
