Tavily is an Israeli-founded developer platform that gives AI agents secure, real-time access to the web through a single API. Founded in 2024 by CEO Rotem Weiss, the company built search, extraction, research, and crawling endpoints designed specifically for LLM and agent workloads rather than traditional human-facing search.
The platform handles thousands of web queries per second, returning structured, citation-ready context that helps reduce hallucinations in production AI systems. Tavily serves Fortune 500 enterprises including IBM, alongside leading AI labs and inference providers such as Cohere and Groq, powering retrieval for use cases in financial services, logistics, coding agents, and enterprise automation. The SDK has surpassed 3 million monthly downloads through organic, developer-led growth.
In August 2025 Tavily raised a $20 million Series A led by Insight Partners. Six months later, on February 10, 2026, Nebius Group announced an agreement to acquire Tavily for $275 million, with potential earnouts taking the deal up to $400 million. The acquisition folds Tavily into Nebius's AI cloud platform, where its agentic search infrastructure complements GPU compute and model hosting. Rotem Weiss and the Tavily team are joining Nebius as part of the transaction.
NeuronFeed flags that Tavily is no longer an independent company. Existing API customers continue to access the product, but future roadmap decisions, pricing, and integrations are now governed by Nebius. Teams evaluating long-term reliance should consider Nebius's broader stack and any future migration implications.
