Highlight launched in 2024 as a spinoff from Medal, a company known for game-clip recording software. The desktop app lets users upload complex files such as product diagrams and get natural-language explanations, automatically generates meeting notes, and converts information spread across multiple files into task lists; an MCP tool syncs data from Highlight into external applications. It offers a free tier and Highlight Premium at $20 per month, which adds access to more advanced third-party models while routing simpler work to smaller, lower-latency models. The company says its installed base includes employees at Google and DoorDash. Following its 2026 round it is building a "unified team memory engine" for cross-person, cross-application task automation, tested first with a limited set of customers.
Funding
In March 2026 Highlight AI raised a $40 million Series A led by Khosla Ventures, with more than half a dozen other investors participating. Alongside the round the company appointed former Discord vice president of product Sergei Sorokin as chief executive.
