What Falcon LLM does
Falcon LLM is a family of large language and multimodal models developed by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), based in Abu Dhabi. The project's stated mission is to make advanced AI accessible and available to everyone, releasing models under open-source or open-access licenses for both research and commercial use.
Key capabilities
The Falcon family spans a range of architectures and sizes. It includes large models such as Falcon 180B and 40B, the Falcon 3 series, and Falcon Mamba 7B, which uses a State Space Language Model architecture. Newer entries include Falcon H1, a hybrid Transformer-Mamba design, the compact reasoning-focused Falcon H1R 7B, the multimodal Falcon Perception, edge-optimized Falcon-E, and Arabic-specialized models for Modern Standard Arabic and regional dialects.
