Chef Robotics is a San Francisco-based food robotics company founded in 2019 by Rajat Bhageria that builds AI-enabled robotic systems to automate ingredient assembly and portioning in high-volume commercial kitchens and food-production facilities. Its robots use machine learning and computer vision to handle a wide variety of ingredients and adapt to different meal recipes, addressing chronic labor shortages in food manufacturing. The company deploys its robots on a robotics-as-a-service model with contract meal manufacturers. ## Funding In March 2025, Chef Robotics announced it had closed $43.1 million in financing to scale deployments of its AI-enabled robots, including $20.6 million in equity led by Avataar Ventures plus venture debt. The round brought the company's total funding to approximately $65.5 million.
