Camus Energy is a San Francisco company building a grid orchestration platform for electric utility operators and planners. Its software combines real-time visibility, day-ahead forecasting, grid-aware control of local energy resources and distribution system planning in a single hub, letting utilities harness the latent flexibility of electrified devices to manage distribution capacity, defer equipment upgrades and improve reliability. The team draws on experience building distributed computing systems at Google, Amazon and Meta, and applies that to analysing billions of utility data points, shifting utilities from model-reliant to data-driven grid management. Named utility customers include Duquesne Light Company, Vermont Electric Cooperative, Kit Carson Electric Cooperative and La Plata Electric Association; the company reports 12 or more U.S. utility partners and a meter-level forecasting deployment covering 1.5 million meters. Products include FlexConnect for flexible grid connections and an operational distribution management system (ODMS).

Funding

Camus announced a $10 million Series A extension on 13 February 2024, bringing total Series A funding to $26 million. The extension was co-led by existing investors Congruent Ventures and Wave Capital, with participation from Align Impact, the Remarkable Ventures Climate fund and Groundswell Ventures.
