Bot MD is a Singapore-headquartered clinical AI platform that builds two complementary products: a clinical assistant that gives doctors instant answers to clinical questions, and an automated patient engagement layer that runs on common messaging channels such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Viber. The company targets hospitals, clinics, and pharma partners across Asia-Pacific.

Bot MD was founded in 2018 by chief executive Dorothea Koh and chief technology officer Yan Chuan Sim. The team built the product around the observation that doctors increasingly searched WhatsApp groups and consumer search engines for clinical answers, and that hospitals lacked lightweight ways to extend care into the messaging apps patients already used daily.

The company raised a US$5 million Series A in February 2021, led by Monk's Hill Ventures with participation from SeaX, XA Network, SGInnovate, healthcare industry veterans Yoh-Chie Lu and Jean-Luc Butel, and Silicon Valley figure Steve Blank. The financing supported regional expansion across Asia-Pacific, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and India, alongside continued investment in proprietary natural language processing tuned for clinical content.

Bot MD's clinical assistant uses natural language processing to surface drug information, calculators, hospital-specific guidelines, and on-call schedules to physicians on demand. The patient engagement layer automates appointment reminders, pre-visit screening, post-discharge follow-up, and chronic disease check-ins, integrating with hospital electronic health record and revenue systems to deliver measurable operational ROI.

The platform has been used by tens of thousands of doctors across multiple Asia-Pacific markets and partners with pharmaceutical companies on disease awareness, patient support, and real-world data collection programmes. Bot MD's regional focus and integration depth differentiate it from generic chatbot platforms attempting to enter healthcare without clinical workflow expertise.
