BetterFleet is a climate-software company that helps mission-critical fleets make the complex transition to electric vehicles and then run them efficiently. Founded in Australia in 2016 by CEO Daniel Hilson (also founder of EVenergi) and now operating from Toronto, BetterFleet focuses on the organizations for which fleet electrification is hardest and highest-stakes: public transit agencies, governments, utilities, and large logistics operators. For these customers, a poorly planned switch to EVs can mean buses that run out of charge mid-route or charging infrastructure that is over- or under-built by millions of dollars.

The platform's core is a digital-twin approach. BetterFleet builds detailed virtual models of a customer's fleet, routes, depots, and charging infrastructure, then uses AI, financial modeling, and geospatial simulation to answer the critical questions of electrification: which vehicles to electrify and when, how much and what kind of charging to install, how to schedule charging to minimize cost and grid impact, and how operations will perform under real-world conditions. This lets fleets de-risk large capital decisions before committing, and then optimize day-to-day once vehicles are on the road.

Beyond planning, BetterFleet provides operational management, including AI-enabled smart charging that schedules energy use to cut costs and respect grid constraints, helping fleets avoid demand charges and take advantage of cheaper or cleaner power. By bridging long-term electrification strategy and daily charging operations in one platform, BetterFleet addresses the full lifecycle of a fleet's transition to zero emissions. The company reports serving more than 200 customers across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North America.

In March 2025 BetterFleet closed a $15 million Series A led by Aligned Climate Capital, the Ecosystem Integrity Fund, and Remarkable Ventures Climate. The funding fuels global expansion of its customer base and continued development of its AI capabilities. As governments mandate zero-emission fleets and operators seek to control the cost and complexity of electrification, BetterFleet aims to be the planning-and-operations brain that makes large-scale EV fleet transitions practical and economical.
