Autonolas—now rebranded as Olas—is a multi-chain protocol and developer framework for building, deploying, and co-owning autonomous AI agents that operate continuously across both on-chain and off-chain environments. Founded in 2021 and publicly launched in June 2022, Olas provides the underlying composable stack—agent services, coordination protocols, and on-chain registries—that allows developers to create agents that sense data, reason, and take actions (DeFi trades, social media posts, prediction market wagers, portfolio rebalances) without requiring constant human supervision. Agents built on Olas are composable: multiple agents communicate using Olas's inter-agent messaging protocol, enabling multi-agent pipelines and emergent economic behaviors across nine supported blockchains including Ethereum, Gnosis, Polygon, and Solana.
The OLAS token is the protocol's economic backbone. Developers register code contributions in Olas's on-chain component registry and earn OLAS emissions when their code runs inside active agent services—a system called Contribute and Earn. Operators who run agent services stake OLAS to become eligible for staking rewards, with stakes locked in smart contracts that verify performance targets are met. In Q4 2025, Olas shipped Pearl v1—a consumer-facing desktop app and the world's first AI Agent App Store—which aggregates agents for DeFi portfolio management, yield optimization, prediction markets, and influencer automation into a single interface where non-technical users can run agents and stake OLAS for rewards.
Olas raised $13.8M in a funding round led by 1kx, with participation from Tioga Capital, Zee Prime Capital, Sigil Fund, and over a dozen other backers. As of mid-2026, the protocol's agents process over 700,000 transactions monthly (growing at 30% month-over-month) and have facilitated more than 3.5 million cumulative transactions across supported chains. The Olas Accelerator program offers up to $1M in grants and token rewards to developers building new agent services on the platform.
