Airwallex is a global financial platform that helps businesses move and manage money across borders. Founded in Melbourne in 2015, it provides multi-currency business accounts, international payments, expense and spend management, corporate cards, and embedded finance APIs. The platform is built on its own global payments infrastructure and licensing network, allowing companies to collect, hold, convert, and pay out funds in dozens of currencies at interbank-style FX rates.
Products and Scale
Airwallex serves startups, SMBs, and large enterprises, with a developer-first API suite that lets platforms embed accounts, cards, and payments. By late 2025 the company reported annualized revenue surpassing $1 billion (around 90% year-on-year growth) and annualized transaction volume exceeding $235 billion. It operates 26 offices and is co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore.
Funding
In December 2025 Airwallex raised a $330 million Series G at an $8 billion valuation, led by Addition, bringing total funding to roughly $1.5 billion. Backers include Tencent, Sequoia, Lightspeed, T. Rowe Price, and others.
