AgZen is an MIT spin-out from the Varanasi research group selling feedback-optimised spraying. Its RealCoverage product is a camera-stacked unit that bolts onto any sprayer and measures, in real time at speeds up to 18 mph, how much spray actually lands on leaf surfaces, detecting droplets down to 150 microns and displaying results on an in-cab tablet. Its AI then issues specific rather than directional recommendations: switch to a given nozzle, drop to 45 psi, speed up to 12 mph, adjust boom height, or change droplet size and gallons per acre for the particular chemical mix, crop and location. Because most spray is lost to bounce-off, runoff and drift, growers routinely over-apply; closing this feedback loop targets 30 to 50 percent reductions in chemical input without yield loss. A second product, EnhanceCoverage, cloaks droplets in adjuvants and is due commercially in 2027.

Funding

AgZen raised a $10 million Series B announced in March 2026, led by DCVC Bio with participation from Material Impact and Astanor, plus a strategic investment from Syngenta Group Ventures announced alongside a Syngenta AG partnership.
