Adaptyv Bio (Adaptyv Biosystems) is based at the Biopole life sciences campus in Epalinges, near Lausanne, Switzerland, and was founded by Julian Englert (CEO) and Daniel Nakhaee-Zadeh (CTO). The company targets the experimental validation bottleneck in protein engineering: AI models can generate thousands of candidate protein designs in silico, but confirming their behavior in the lab remains slow and expensive. Adaptyv's cloud lab lets researchers submit protein sequences digitally through a secure portal, runs automated assays, and returns a data package in about three weeks. Available data types include binding affinity, expression and thermostability. Since its beta launch the company has tested over 10,000 proteins with more than 30 pharma, biotech and AI research partners, and during an international protein design competition its system raised the design success rate from 2.5% to 13% over two months. The company also runs Proteinbase, an open protein data resource, and offers an API that connects AI models directly to laboratory outputs.

Funding

Adaptyv Bio raised $8 million (CHF 6.4 million) in seed funding announced in October 2025, led by ACE Ventures with participation from ByFounders, Founderful, LongGame Ventures and several individual investors. The round built on a CHF 2.5 million pre-seed raised in 2022. Proceeds are being used to expand platform capacity, diversify biochemical assays, increase automation and release the model-to-lab API.
