Elon Musk's AI company xAI has officially completed its rebrand to SpaceXAI, five months after merging with SpaceX.

The company announced the new name and logo on X, with the xAI account now displaying "SpaceXAI" branding. SpaceX maintains a separate account for its space vehicle updates and launch announcements.

SpaceX acquired xAI in February for an undisclosed sum, with Musk explaining that "global electricity demand for AI simply cannot be met with terrestrial solutions." The merger aimed to move resource-intensive data center operations to space.

Orbital Data Center Plans

SpaceXAI plans to build orbital data centers using satellite infrastructure. SpaceX filed an FCC application to launch one million satellites for a space-based data center network before the merger announcement.

The combined entity also controls X, the social media platform that xAI acquired in 2025. All three companies now operate under the SpaceXAI umbrella.

SpaceX went public in June with shares closing at $161, valuing the company at $2.1 trillion. The new branding has not yet appeared in official SEC filings, though the xAI website already displays the updated logo and company name.

Musk previously stated that moving AI operations to space represents "the only logical solution" to meet growing computational demands. The orbital data center concept would leverage SpaceX's satellite deployment capabilities with xAI's AI infrastructure expertise.

SpaceXAI's first orbital data center deployment timeline has not been disclosed, though the company continues processing its million-satellite FCC application.
