OpenAI launched Health in ChatGPT for US adults, allowing users to connect Apple Health and supported medical records for more contextual health conversations.
The feature enables ChatGPT to access personal health data to provide more tailored responses about medical questions and wellness topics. Users can link their Apple Health app and compatible electronic health records directly through the ChatGPT interface.
OpenAI said connected health data and related conversations would not be used to train foundation models or target advertisements. The company positioned this as a privacy-first approach to health AI, addressing concerns about sensitive medical information.
The launch comes as tech giants increasingly compete in healthcare AI. Apple has built extensive health tracking capabilities into its devices, while Google and Microsoft have developed clinical AI tools for healthcare providers.
